December 17th marked Amity’s second annual silent Art Auction. All students from Kindergarten-12th grade had one piece on exhibit at the auction. It was wonderful to see students commenting on and enjoying one another’s art work. The event was enhanced by musical accompaniment from Mr. Kahya and wonderful food made by Brooklyn’s Turkish Cultural Center. The event was a great success and in addition to raising funds for the art department, was able to help Brooklyn Community Services fund their annual Spring Volunteering event. Students went home with smiling faces after the raffle winners were announced. Senior Betul Keskin commented:

“It made me so happy when people came up to me and told me that my artwork looked like a friend of theirs or like a real person. It has been my goal to capture people and I feel like I finally accomplished that”- Betul Keskin
