On Sunday, May 7th, the Young Peace Builders members all attended the annual friendship dinner, on of the club's last events. While enjoying many delicious turkish dishes, the girls learned about Ramadan, and reflected on their experiences in regards to the club. Later, Mrs. Amanova demonstrated the cultural Ebru art. Students also had the chance to participate and create their own artworks. The overall experience was phenomenal and everyone had a great time. We hope to keep our students in touch with this club for the upcoming years.
On Thursday, May 4th, the juniors and sophomores went on a trip to New York University. They were able to see what a campus in the heart of Manhattan looks like; so while touring NYU, they were also able to explore the city!
Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz (D-Brooklyn) invited our students in grades three through 12 to enter his 2017 Holocaust Memorial Creative Arts Contest. Assemblyman Cymbrowitz sponsors the contest with the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center, Holocaust Memorial Committee, the Lena Cymbrowitz Foundation and Project Witness to honor the six million who perished and also to teach students that anti-Semitism and bias-motivated violence remain painfully relevant issues, especially with the dramatic rise in hate crimes this year. We proudly presented our student's art work today at the event to greatly support Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz's 2017 Holocaust Memorial Creative Arts Contest.
