Brooklyn Amity students donated canned food to the Pantry for the Needy, organized by the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude. After Assemblyman William Colton introduced the event, Helping Hands club announced it to the rest of the school, and students started to bring in cans of food. Altogether, over 600 cans were collected. Besides feeling the joy of giving to others, as a reward the classes who collected the most cans got a pizza party. The winners were 2nd grade in elementary, and 7th grade in middle school. The Helping Hands club packaged up all the cans and sent it out. The whole school worked together to give back to the community, especially at such a hard time with the harsh, cold weather. It was a great event, and we all practiced helping and sharing.
