From simple ingredients available at home, the students of Brooklyn Amity School constructed their very own volcanoes. And get this: they ERUPT! On February 23, 2017, Mr.Yerbol’s Earth Science class filled the tables with numerous types of volcanoes. The beautifully constructed structures were then filled with either mentos, or baking soda. The 6th graders shared their experiences building it and even named their models. When it was time to demonstrate, vinegar or acidic soda was added into the crater and students and teachers watched in awe as the volcanoes erupted. We thank the 6th graders for their wonderful projects and would like to see more in the future.
