STEAM Fair: A Showcase of Talent and Innovation at Amity



Brooklyn Amity School recently hosted its highly anticipated STEAM Fair, an event where students from all grade levels showcased their talents and creativity through a variety of innovative projects. The fair was a vibrant display of ingenuity, with each table featuring unique and fascinating exhibits that captured the essence of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.


The fair kicked off with students eagerly presenting their projects, each one designed to engage and educate visitors on various STEAM concepts. The event was open to all K-12 students and staff, providing an excellent opportunity for everyone to explore the diverse world of STEAM.


Highlights from the STEAM Fair:


Robotics Table - Sun Energy:

Students demonstrated how they harnessed the power of the sun to create energy-efficient robots. Their projects highlighted the potential of renewable energy sources in modern technology.


Paper Mache Table:

Here, students explained the process of making paper mache clay from scratch. Visitors learned about the art and science behind this versatile material and its applications.


Monty Hall Problem Table:

This table intrigued visitors with a mathematical probability puzzle, the Monty Hall Problem, challenging them to think critically and understand the underlying statistics.


Dream Bedroom Geometry Table:

Students used geometric principles to design their ideal bedrooms, showcasing their understanding of shapes, dimensions, and spatial reasoning.


Dream Castle Table:

Combining creativity and engineering, this table featured models of dream castles, highlighting the architectural skills and imagination of our students.


Parallelograms vs Triangle Table:

Visitors explored the differences and similarities between parallelograms and triangles, learning about their properties and applications in real-world scenarios.


How to Make a Lava Lamp Table:

Students demonstrated the science behind creating a lava lamp, captivating visitors with colorful, bubbling displays.


Size Matters Table:

This exhibit emphasized the importance of scale and proportion in various contexts, from biology to engineering.


Clinometer Table:

Students showed how to use a clinometer to measure the angle of elevation, explaining its practical uses in fields like astronomy and surveying.


Proving the Right Triangle Similarity Formula Using Paper Table:

A hands-on approach to understanding right triangle similarity, students used paper models to prove this essential geometric concept.


Slime Table:

This popular table guided visitors through the process of making slime, explaining the chemistry behind this fun and stretchy substance.


Proving Interior Angle Sum Theorem of a Polygon Table:

Using paper models, students demonstrated how to prove that the sum of the interior angles of a polygon is (𝑛−2)×180.


Roller Coaster Table:

Engineering enthusiasts showcased their roller coaster designs, explaining the physics of motion and gravity involved in their creations.


Paper Pyramids Table:

Visitors learned about the construction and geometry of pyramids, a fascinating intersection of art and mathematics.


Triangular Tower Milk Table:

This table featured the construction of sturdy triangular towers using milk cartons, emphasizing the strength and stability of triangular structures.


Fractal Geometry Table:

Students delved into the world of fractals, demonstrating how complex patterns can be created from simple geometric shapes.


Statistics Table:

This exhibit provided insights into the world of statistics, showing how data is collected, analyzed, and interpreted.


Fire Extinguisher Water Gun Table:

A fun and educational demonstration of how fire extinguishers can be repurposed into water guns, combining safety education with a playful twist.


The STEAM Fair was filled with excitement and learning, as students proudly presented their projects and engaged with visitors. The event not only highlighted the incredible talent and creativity of our students but also fostered a deep appreciation for STEAM subjects among attendees.
